Local Artists Invitational

This is always an exness exciting exhibition featuring 2- and 3-dimensional works from local artists. This region is blessed with more than our fair share of talented individuals. To see samples of the work of 50 or more of them in one exhibit is very thrilling indeed. Many of the works are for sale, so this is a great opportunity to show support for the artistic community and obtain one-of-a-kind, original artwork. Meet the Artists Opening Reception and Gallery Talk will be Sunday, September 5.

One of the most exciting and valuable programs that the ARV Arts Center sponsors is Kids at Art. Through this program each student in 4th and 5th grade in the Russellville Public School District, St. John's Catholic School and home schooled students are given 9 weeks of formal art instruction that also incorporates academics. One small example of this is teaching fractions when using the color wheel. Their works, plus works of area elementary and middle school students and both adults and children who have studied at the ARV Arts Center will be on display. This will provide a variety of 2 and 3-dimensional artwork that should prove very interesting.

In addition to a cash award and ribbon, the grand prizewinner of the Collegiate Exhibition is awarded the opportunity for a one-person show at the ARV Arts Center. The December exhibit will feature the works of Hillary Kemp, a TECH student from Lamar, who captured the grand prize in the 2003 Collegiate Exhibition and Competition. The Meet the Artists Opening Reception and Artist Gallery Talk will be held Sunday, December 5.
